Hieroglyphics

Hieroglyphics are Egyptians writing. What are Hieroglyphics? Phonograms, Ideograms, and Determinatives are all hieroglyphs. Hieroglyphs were used to write stories. Students had to start learning 200 different signs. Only elite Egyptians could read hieroglyphs.

Family was important in Egypt. The husband usually had a senior or chief wife. Children were also important the family unit. Peasent life in Egypt was no that enjoyable. Egyptians were he first to introduce ox-drawn plow.

Ancient Egypt was a civilization in Africa. Egyptians and pharaohs built pyramids. Egyptians invented a writing called Hieroglyphics. This was the first alphabet. Egyptians believed in gods and goddesses. They went to temples to worship who and what they believed in.

Religion

Egyptians believed in many Gods. They also worshipped Gods such as, Isis, Osiris, Horus, Anubis, Re, Nu and Seth. Temples were built for Egyptians to honor the gods they worshipped. These temples were for Egyptians who worshipped Gods. Gods were characters in myths, like a movie. Myths were influenced by nature. Egyptians believed in Gods and Goddesses.

Mummies

2600 BCE

Egyptians would mummify their dead because they believed in life after death so, they would practice mummification on pharaohs when they would die. Scholars found evidence of artificial mummification. Egyptians would also mummify a variety of animals that were dead. People mummify their pets because they care for them and love them. These are some reasons why they would mummify their dead.

Khufu

2589 BCE

Khufu was the God Kings 19 to about 50 years. When pharaoh's would die, Egyptians would mummify their bodies. Khufu was one of the pharaohs. Khufu was also known as Cheops. He ruled the old kingdom and built the Great Pyramid.

Temples

1550 BCE

Egyptians built temples to worshipped who they believed in like Gods and Goddesses. Two main types of temples are Cultus (religious), and Mortuary. There are three different types of famous temples such as, Hatshepsut's Mortuary Temple, The Ramesseum, Medinet habu, Luxor Temple, Karnak, Abu Simbel, Abydos, Kom Ombo, Edfu, Philae, and Dendera. There are different temples and statues around the temples in Egypt.

The Great Pyramid of Giza

1500 BCE

The Egyptians built the pyramids on the West Bank of the Nile. There is a pyramid still standing today called the Great Pyramid at Giza. There are two pyramids that were built at Giza, Khafra and Menkaura. The sides of a pyramid is 755.75 feet ( 230 meters ).
