Cortez arrives in Mexico and takes the current rule hostage. -

Epidemic
More than half of the population died from the smallpox that Cortez and his men unwittingly brought with them. Cortez's men were immune to it having been exposed to it before, but the Aztecs had never come into contact with small pox before and so the death toll sky-rocketed. -

Alliance Breaks
Cortez attacks the weakened Aztecs with the help of former Aztec allies, the Texcocans and the Tacubans. The Aztecs are finally defeated. -
