    Fred Fleet spotted an iceberg straight ahead and he sounded the alarm.

    The ship collided with an iceberg about 400 miles off of Newfoundland, Canada.
  • Loading the lifeboats

    Captain Smith gave the orders at 12:30 to start loading the passengers into the lifeboats.
  • Lifeboats launched

    The first lifeboat was lowered at 12:45, containing only 28 people.
  • Its sinking fast

    At 2:05, there were still over 1,000 passengers left on the fast sinking Titanic.
  • Its final moments

    At 2:20, the Titanic made its plunge toward its watery grave where it would lie for many years to come.
  • The remains are found

    The remains of the Titanic were found by Dr. Robert Ballard.
