Dust Bowl Field
Dust bowl farmer driving tractor with young son, near Cland, New Mexico. "I left cotton growing east of Wichita Falls to come out here to get to grow wheat. (The superior status of wheat over cotton farmers is traditional.) I guess I've made 1000 miles right up and down this field in the dust when you couldn't see that car on the road, and had to use headlights. This soil is the best there is anywhere, but it sure does blow when it's right. Lange, Dorothea, photographer
