On May 18th 1980 Mount St Helen erupted in Washington. This was the deadliest volcanic disaster in American history and it resulted in 57 people dead. -

The Collapse of the USSR
On December 12th 1991 the Soviet Union finally fell and the communist government was replaced by a much more democratic one. This was the effective end of the long Cold War. -
Oklahoma City Boming
On April 19th 1995 a parked truck exploded outside Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City. Timothy McVeigh had parked the truck earlier that day planning to detonate the bomb later that morning. 168 lives were tragically lost that day. -
Columbine Massacre
On April 20th 1999, the Columbine Highschool was attacked. Two former students entered the school and fatally shot 15. -
9/11 Attacks
On September 11th 2001 the world was changed when a series of terrorist attacks struck the United States. The twin towers in New York City were struck by two large aircrafts causing the buildings to collapse, killing thousands. The Pentagon was struck later that day. A final flight, which was set to hit the White House, was taken over by its passengers and ended up crashing into a field.
