    First televised Presidential debate
    This was the first nationally televised presidential campaign debate. It was between John F. Kennedy and Richard N. Nixon. Kennedy clearly won the debate by his comfortable communicated level. This was a huge impact to the world because it was nationally televised and everyone got to see each man for themselfs.
  • Bay of Pigs Invasion

    Bay of Pigs Invasion
    The Bay of Pigs invasion was an unsuccessful military invansion of Cuba. The ultimate goal was the overthrow of Castro and the establishment of a non-communist government friendly to the United States. Unfortunately, Castro was smart and planned ahead, attacking and killing many U.S. soldiers making this an unsuccessful invasion.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    Cuban Missile Crisis
    The Cuban missile crisis was a 13-day confrontation between Cuba and Soviet Union and The United States. This was one of the major confrontations during the Cold War. This was when the Cold War came close into contact with a nuclear conflict. When Cuba and the Soviet Union were setting up missiles, The United States considered attacking Cuba by sea or air. But soon enough decided it would be best to attack by a military blockade, calling it a "quarantine" for legal and other reasons.

    March on Washington
    This Civil Rights Movement was in responce to national media attention and the inspiration of it's leaders. Dr. King led civil rights protests in Brimingham, Alabama, which triggered arrests. About 200,000 people marched the nation's capital singing about freedom and protesting about what they wanted. This was a nonviolent protest and really opened up the eyes of the world. This march ended at the Lincoln Memorial where Martin Luther King made his most famous and memorial speech.

    Civil Acts Rights Passed in the U.S.
    This outlawed the acts of discrimination against ethinic, racial, national, and religious minorities, as well as women. It ended unequal application for the right to vote and racial segregation in school as well as in the general public. Kennedy's speech asked for legislation "giving all Americans the right to be served in facilities which are open to the public—hotels, restaurants, theaters, retail stores, and similar establishments," as well as "greater protection for the right to vote."

    The Rolling Stones’ Mega Hit Song, “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”. This song is so popular that it is still listened too today. The Rolling Stones were the "hit band" of the 1960's. They were known as the British Rock invasion.

    Black Panther Party Established
    The Black Panther Party was a black revolutionary socialist organization that was in the United States from 1966 to 1982.
    The Black Panther Party achieved national and international notoriety through its involvement in the Black Power movement and U.S. politics. It was founded by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale. This party was to get Black rights and to make White folks realize.
  • First Super Bowl

    First Super Bowl
    This was the start to many years of fun Super Bowl Sunday. Today people obsess over the Super Bowl, it's the biggest time of the year and many companies make millions of dollars because of this. This was played at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California. The National Football League (NFL) champion Green Bay Packers defeated the American Football League (AFL) champion Kansas City Chiefs by the score of 35–10.
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Assassinated

    Martin Luther King Jr. Assassinated
    Martin Luther King Jr. was assisinated on April 4, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was asssassinated during his speech. He was telling the world about his dream of everyone being equal. He was killed by a single shot to the face and neck. Martin Luther King Jr. is a very inspirational man who really opened the eyes of the world. His speech touched the hearts of millions and will always be rememebered.
  • First man on the moon

    First man on the moon
    Neil Armstrong Becomes the First Man on the Moon. He was apart of the Apollo 11 mission. He stepped onto the surface of the moon followed by Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin. Their accomplishment placed the United States ahead of the Soviets in the Space Race and gave people around the world the hope of future space exploration.
