    The 1960 election had the first televised presidential debate, between the republican candidate Richard Nixon and the democrat candidate John F. Kennedy.
    Kennedy was portraited much better, he had make up and clothes that helped him look better than Nixon who did'nt had anything. A huge part of the US population watched the debate and liked JFK more due to his good apearance.

    JFK won the 1960 election. He was a democrat.He won the election against Richard Nixon, republican candidate and vicepresident of that time.

    The US planned to overthrow Fidel Castro, the communist leader of Cuba. The plan consisted in training an army of cuban exiles, and arming them well enough so they could invade Cuba and defeat the Castro's army. The operation was unseccesful, most of the exiles were either killed or captured.

    In 1962 president JFK created a naval blockade around Cuba. The US had knoledge about the Soviets building missile sites in Cuba and also military airports. During the next few days the US and the Soviet Union were at the edge of going into a war.

    Riots which started with a crowed who attacked, due to police brutality in Watts. This led to a full scale civilian riot and in the process 34 people were killed thousands wounded and damage to property was higher than 200 million dollars, the riots lasted 5 days.
