This conference was held in Wannsee, Germany, here in the pictured building, SS Waffen "storm troops" and Hitler met with the German military officials to plan out the final solution; the extermination of the Jewish people. -

Thunderclap was a code for a CANCELLED operation by the Royal English Air Force. The goal was to demolish the densely-populated German town of Dresden. The plan was cancelled due to bad weather. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
The battle of Iwo Jima was a major battle over an island in the pacific, near Japan, and It was more or less, the last stand for the Japanese forces, until the Japanese mainland, and it was a tough, but promising victory for the United States. -
The Battle of Okinawa
The Battle of Okinawa was faught on several islands in the pacific northwest. This was the bloodiest battle of the Pacific. Again, the USA dominates over Japan, but only after having lost thousands of soldiers. Around 75,000 Japanese military and civilians died or commited suicide. -
VE Day
In Berlin, only a week after Hitler's suicide, the Nazi government leaders authorize a surrender, after being cornered in Berlin by Allied forces. This was the end of the war for the European front. -

Atomic Bombs
Bombing occured first in Hiroshima, then in Nagasaki. Bombing caused instant death to hundreds of thousands. August 6th, Hiroshima was bombed, then on Nagasaki, 3 days later. -
VJ DAY
Victory in Japan, as they surrender after the dropping of the two atomic bombs. This oficially ends the war.
