15th Amendment

This federal law prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. Provisions of this civil rights act forbade discrimination on the basis of sex and race in hiring, promoting, and firing. -
Voting Rights Act
Outlawed discriminatory practices adopted in many Southern states after the Civil War, including literacy tests as a prerequisite to voting. -
26th Amendment
Established a nationally standardized minimum age from 21 to 18 for participation in state and local elections. -
National Voter Registration Act
Advances voting rights in the United States by requiring state governments to offer simplified voter registration processes for any eligible person who applies for or renews a driver's license. -
Help American Vote Act
This bill was drafted in reaction to the controversy relating to the 2000 U.S. presidential election. The goals of this act was to replace punchcard and lever-based voting systems.
