Voting Rights in the United States

  • White males with property only allowed to vote

    No females, or minorities allowed to vote.

  • No religious requirements on voting

    Before this, it was necessary to be a white christian male.

  • No more property requirements

    Just had to be a white male.

  • Former slaves are now allowed to vote

    15th amendment gives way for colored people voting.

  • Women now can vote

    19th amendment gives women the right to vote.

  • People in Washington D.C. are now allowed to vote.

    23rd amendment

  • No more required tax on voters

    24th amendment

  • Martin Lther King Jr. makes a speech about African Americans voting rights

  • Voting age is now 18 instead of 21

    26th amendment takes place.
