Magna Carta
The Magna Carta was a charter from the English that was first established in 1215 and then later in the 13th century, they made changes to it with the most changes yet to the monarchs authority to date. This was the first document forced upon an English King. -

English Parliament created this major declaration following up to the Civil War. This document mainly states that the principles can only be levied by Parliament. -

A document written by Parliament but agreed on by William and Mary of England that was made to prevent abuse of power by English monarchs. This has much to do with the basis of American government and politics in this present day. -

Boston Massacre
Five British redcoats killed five civilian men. Bristish troops were in Boston stationed at the time to protect and support crown appointed officials attempting to enforce Parliamentary legislation. -
Boston Tea Party
Colonists in Boston took a direct action against the British government that controlled all the tea imported into the colonies.
After Boston refused to return three shiploads of taxed tea to Britian, colonists destroyed the ships and tea by throwing it into the Boston Harbor. -
First Continental Congress
Convention of delegates from tweleve of thirteen colonies in Pennsylvania. This was called for after the Boston Tea Party event had happened and Boston had then been punished. -
Second Continental Congress
A meeting from the 13 colonies that started meeting in Pennsylvania after warfare in the Revolutionary War had begun. Delegates from 12 out of the 13 colonies attended. -
Declaration of Independence
An adopted statement from the Continental Congress declaring independence in the 13 colonies as their own and no longer apart of the British Empire. You can see the actual document at a muesum in Washington D.C. called National Archives. -

An armed uprise due to financial difficulties and by January the following year, over 1,000 Shaysites had been arrested. This made fears come about of the Revolution's democratic impulse had gotten out of control. -

This convention was held while George Washington was running for president. Several debates were disscussed in this convention and was an on-going process. -
Virginia Plan
Proposal designed by Virginia delegates that wanted a three branch government that consumed of a bicameral legislature. Each State's membership was determined by the population or financial support for the central government. -
New Jersey Plan
The New Jersey Plan let the people have the power to regulate trade and raise money by taxing foreign goods. However, this document was rejected and the Virginia Plan's ideas were instead added.
