35th President of The United States - John F. Kennedy
The United States has sworn in the 35th president. The Unites States new president is John F. Kennedy. He was born on May 29th, 1917 and was the youngest man elected to the office. He was also the youngest president to die after Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas on November 22nd, 1963. -
Soviet Cosmonaut - Yuri Gagarin
Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin completes the first orbit of Earth by a human. He was honored by his nation with the titles of Hero of the Soviet Union and Pilot Cosmonaut of the Soviet Union. Also monuments were raised to him, and streets were renamed in his honor across the Soviet Union. -
Broadway Musical - Mr. President
A broadway musical titled Mr. President opens for the start of it's eight month run in St. James Theatre. It's an original musical, comedy about a fictional president in the United States including the family about their last days in office and as they move back into civilian life. American Television Soap Opera Days Of Our Lives debuts on United States network NBC, and has since become a fixture of American Daytime programming. The soap opera deals with real life topics like family, love, death, and drama. It was initially praised at the start for its real life portrayal of American families and bringing up taboo subjects. -
The Tashkent Declaration Peace Accord Signing
On January 10th, 1966 Pakistan and India both signed the Declaration Peace Accord. What that peace accord means is that they both a signed a document to stop the fighting and to restore the peace between both countries. It was to also bring back an understanding between people. Which also led them to agreeing to meeting and deciding on things peacefully, that one country would not bash the other with lies or stories. Also that both leaders would return their posts and continue with their lives. -
100th Anniversary of Confederation in Canada
On the first day of the new year in 1967, Canada held the 100th celebration of Confederation of that lasts a year long. Which also features the Expo 67 Worlds Fair. The celebration included a train, a canoe pageant. Large gatherings were held on Parliament Hill on Dominion Day. -
Fords Theatre Reopening which follows with neighborhood riots and renewal
Nationally televised reopening on CBS on January 30th, 1968 to mark the rebirth of Forbes as a place to celebrate the legacy of past Present Abraham Lincoln through theater and also education. Where riots near it broke out not too long after following the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr, and the neighborhood near it facing damages. The theatre becoming the only place to not have a fall out from the events. -
The Beatles Final Album Recording
With it's first issue in September of 1969, Abbey Road was the final Beatles album to be recorded. It's also to be noted even though it's their final recording it's not their last to be released. Recorded in the North London studios which was carefully constructed. Also the first time the cover did not have the groups name or album title, but the icon still well known today zebra cross walk which is located near the studio. -
Isle Of Wight Festival
The Isle of Wight Festival took place in the United Kingdom though August 26th to August 31st. A festival that was supposed to be about peace love, and music. Instead what surrounded it was narchists, fire and rock'n'roll. Was supposed to be an event like Woodstock, but came out even worse. Performers at the event were heckled, fans entering without paying, and fans damaging the event with no care in the world. -
Walt Disney World Grand Opening!
On October 1st 1971 through October 25th, 1971 opened up in Orlando Florida and had their few week celebration. Their Florida location was picked because of their long roads and big spaces, ten times the size of their location in California. It covers over forty square miles. -

Did you know the first issue of Ms. Magazine is published on July 1, 1972. It also features Wonder Woman on its cover. The magazine is founded by activists Gloria Steinem and Dorothy Pittman Hughes. It's a magazine or newspaper published at regular intervals providing “feminist news and information.” A fact regarding the magazine is Steinem chose Wonder Woman for the cover as a reaction to DC Comics choice to have the long running character lose her superpowers. -

On July 28th, a concert attracts over 600,000 music fans for the rock genre featuring groups like Greatful Dead, The Allman Brothers Band and The Band perform. The concert took place in the United States in NewYork. It was history making and even bigger than Woodstock. Also broke the world record at the time for the number of people who went. -
The Rumble In the Jungle
At thirty-two years old Muhammad Ali becomes a second heavyweight champion of the world for his second time after knocking out a twenty five year old champ by the name of George Foreman in the eight round of "Rumble in The Jungle." The match took place in Kinshasa, Zaire. It was also Africas first heavyweight championship match. -
The Day Microsoft was Born
When most of the population was using type writers, childhood friends who go by the name of Bill Gates and Paul Allen. This was the day Microsoft was founded. Microsoft is a company which makes computer software. It was originally based on home to Albuquerque, Mexico. Later in the years the company was moved to Washington State. It would also help make Forbes at the time the youngest billionaire. -
Tallest structure in the world in Canada
The CN Tower was close to being finished on March 1975. This happens when Olga, the giant Sikorsky helicopter, flew into the city to lift the thirty nine pieces of the antenna into place. The tower was finished on April 2, 1975. -
Airline Concorde Made Its First Visit
On October 19th, 1977 Airline Concorde that comes from outside Paris officially made it's first flight to the JFK airport. Though it took six years to get there because it was previously banned for resist to the get on noise grounds. It was also felt the plane wasn't to fly to NewYork, until it's approval in 1977. The aircraft before then being called very important. -
The First Solo North Pole Expedition
Naomi Uemura is a Japanese explorer and mountaineer. He was best known for his solo trips around the world. He became the first person to reach the North Pole in a solo expedition across the Arctic sea-ice. It happened on 4:45 a.m. greenwhich mean time, on 1 May 1978. He had travelled 770 km, setting out on 7 March from Cape Edward, Ellesmere Island in northern Canada. -
To The Manor Born Premieres (1979-1981)
On September 30th, 1979 on the BBC One Network in the United Kingdom the scripted comedy To The Manor Born airs it's first episode. It's about The love-hate relationship between upper class Audrey Fforbes Hamilton and Richard DeVere, He's a rich businessman who buys her manor house when she can longer afford to keep it. The show lasts for new seasons, but has a Christmas special in 2007. -
China One-Child Policy Officially Starts
Even though it was discussed and agreed on before hand, the official date where in China you where couples were allowed to have only one child was September 25 in 1980. If you had another baby without permission China would fine the couple. It was too curb the number of children, and also help keep control of the population.
