Bleeding Kansas
People who were against slavery and those who supported it moved to Kansas to vote but there was a lot of blood shed. It was the first place where blood was spilled over slavery. -
Dred Scott Decision
Dred Scott went to a trial for his freedom from Irene Emorson. He didn't win in court but later in life gained his freedom. Did not win court because slaves weren't citizens. -
Lincoln Douglas Debates
The debate between Lincoln and Douglas, Douglas wanted to keep slavery but Lincoln wanted to end it. It was the South's introduction to Lincoln and they feared him. -
