Atari is founded
Even though I was not born when Atari was founded, I remember getting our first Atari. This game console was the beginning of game consoles and Allowed my family to sit together and play each other in games such as Pong, and Centipede -
Space Shuttle

Although I was too young to realize the significance of this launch from this moment foward NASA would be able to perform experiments in Space and now had a space shuttle that could be reused. I was always interested in space travel and this interest dtems from all of the media I have seen in relation to Space travel. -
World Wide Web is launched
With the launching of the World Wide Web, the public can now access the Internet. It will take a few years for this to affect me directly but now everything I research is done on the world wide web. I have increased my communication with friends, family and colleagues with the world wide web. -
AOL launched for Window's
Although AOL was launched in 1991, it was the program written for Window's that influenced my life. When AOL for Window's came out my family had one computer connected to a dial up line and we installed AOL. It was so exciting to hear the dial up chord make the static call out and connect us to the Internet. I sent my first e-mail and I thought it was amazing that the e-mail only took 20 minutes to send. -
First smart phone released
The first smartphone was launched in January of this year. I did not purchase a smart phone until October of 2011. The significance of this event is that in 1993 I purchased my first cell phone. It was big and bulky and was too be used for emergency calls only. Since this initial purchase the phones have become smaller and easier to use and cheaper to operate so I use it for more than just emergency calls. -
Amazon, Ebay, Hotmail
In the year 1995 Amazon, Ebay, and Hotmail all launched. This was the beginning of the push to make the world wide web more accessible to the public and more user friendly. Without these types of applications the public would find it very difficult to use the world wide web. I remeber being on e-bay and not understanding the significance. I amde my first purchase on ebay in 1999 and I have been hooked ever since. -
Comcast High Speed
In 1996 Comcast introduced Highspeed Internet, the alternate to the slow DSL and dial up. My parents hooked up to the Highspeed Internet sometime in 1998. This changed my online world because I was now using the Internet to find information and talk to people and not just for school work. It was so much faster and easier to use then dial up -
The Knot
In August 2010 I got engaged. I used the Website The Knot to help plan my wedding, keep ideas and share ideas. This website was a great deal of help in planning my wedding and also opened my eyes to the capability of a Web 2.0 website. The website itself was launched in 1997 -
