1973 Constitution
Assad instituted a new Constitution in 1973 during his term as president. This Constitution gave him more powers and also stated that the president had to be Muslim. the Ba ath party still continued dominating the nation though. -
Syria -Israeli agreement
The United States along with the UN assisted them in ending the fighting. They came to an agreement where Israeli's returned land they had previously gained. Both nations had enough of each other and needed a break from the fighting. This was a small step towards a peace process. -

Industrial revolution ******
Syria was facing difficult economic issues and needed some form of income. The idea of and agricultural and industrial revolution was passed around and everyone agreed that this could work. they used their raw material and natural resources to create products for exportation. These revolutions were contributing factors in bringing the nation out of an economic crisis. This also provided the citizens with jobs allowing them to have a source of income. This was the one thing the citizens enjoyed. -
Madrid Peace conference
This was an international peace conference for the Middle East. Was not very successful because Israeli's were not willing to give back land. They eventually decided to return some of the land but wanted to talk first. -

The people within Syria are becoming tired of their leader and are protesting that he should be demoted. The people are trying very hard to eliminate their leader and feel they deserve more rights and better life styles -

Groups of young revolutuionaries are unhappy with the Assad regime and are fighting for change. They are demanding reforms and feel like they are not being given the rights they deserve
