Heliocentric Theory Developed
The Heliocentric Theory was developed by the Polish astronomer Nicholas Copernicus. The theory was proven correct after the previous theory (Geocentric Theory) was proven wrong. The theory states that all planets orbit the sun, different from the previous theory were all planets including the sun orbit the earth. -
Milky Way Discovery
In 1609 Galileo Galilei, a Italian astronomer, used a telescope to further inspect the galaxies beyond planet earth. He then discovered the Milky Way, a spiral galaxy made up of dust, gas and stars. -
