Led by Hong Xiuquan granted Christian missionaries that increased privileges in China. Hong wanted to save the world and bring peace.He didn't want anyone to live in poverty.

Extraterritorial Rights

The peace treaty from the Opium War lead to U.S. and other foreign citizens gaining extraterritorial rights. These rights gave them exemption from Chinese law and a bustling trade in Opium continued.
