    The Birth of rock

    The 1950s, the birth of rock and roll, a fusion of electric blues, gospel and country music. Circumscribed to the rhythm and blues in the early decade. Rock crosses to Pop charts in the future. Electric Blues, R&B, Doo-Woop, Rockabilyrock and rock and roll were starting to become the history of music.
  • Expanding Boundaries of Rock

    When the 60s came around, rock music came of age and dominated all the popular music charts. Rock music varies with new styles such as soul, surf, folk-rock, the British invasion, psychedelic and hard rock. The television became a factor as prime time variety shows the features of rock and roll music.
  • Rock Becomes A big Business

    In the music industry, the early seventies are marked by deaths of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison. Psychedelic music declines but then it morphs into hard rock, progressive rock and heavy HEAVY metal. Bands touring move from playing music in clubs then to playing music in sport events
  • CD's, Synths, and the Rise of MTV

    The 80s were big for the music television which launched on 300 cable TV systems. By 1983 MTV was available on more than 2000 cable systems. The predominance of music videos as a 23/7 marketing tool is influential in bringing numerous new bands and music styles to the mainstream.
