This was the year that Rock started. A band that was popular back then was a band called "the Penguins". The Penguins it #1 on the R&B and #10 pop with there song Earth angels. Another group that was popular was the Los Angeles, California vocal group. The Platters score with "Only You" which hits #1 on the R&B for seven weeks and was #5 on the US Pop Chart. The group would go on to have over forty US Top 100 hits including four singles. -
60s

This was the year of the beetles. They were the most popular group of rock bands in the '60s. This was also the year that rock concerts were starting outdoors. The top three most popular artists and band back then were #1 the beetles #2 Elvis Presley and #3 The rolling stones. You may have heard of these bands a lot and since they were so popular that was why. -
70s rock

The Beatles break up in 1970, but all four members continue to impact the decade with successful and great singles. In the '70s there was more heavy metal, hard rock and progressive rock. This was also the year that touring bands move from playing clubs and theatres to playing sports arenas. -

This was the year of the loss of rock legend John Lennon. CD's, Synths, and the Rise of MTV were used for seeing Recordings and concerts. This was also the year that rock music was helping charities, which were supported by many music artists including Band Aid, We Are The World, plus the Live Aid and Farm Aid concerts. -

With huge growth in sales, radio airplay and overall success for artists like NWA, Public Enemy, Queen Latifah, Salt n' Pepa, Ice T, Dr Dre, Eminem, Tupac Shakur, Cypress Hill e.t.c. Some of the top artists of this decade were #1 Mariah Carey #2 Madonna #3Celine Dion.
