End of French and Indian War
French and Indian War picturethis was a big impacct on the Boston Massacre because it started hate between the British and the colonist. the colonists didnt like the British because they taxed them because they had to pay for the war and the colonists thought that this wasnt fair. -
The Proclamation of 1763
King George III said colonists could not move west of the Appalachian Mountains. He didnt want to have to keep protecting from indian attacks. Some colonists in return didnt listen to the new rule about going west of the Appalachian Mountains. -
Sugar Act
Sugar ActThe British taxed the 13 colonies on sugar and molasses because they couldnt pay for the damage of the war. In return to the taxes the colonists boycotted taxed sugar and some even smuggled sugar. This is where the phrase "No Taxation Without Representation" comes in. -
Stamp Act
This required special tax stamps for legal documents, newspapers, dice, and cards. In return the colonists boycotted the taxes on newspapers, dice, and cards. Also much violence occurred and also some people smuggled these items. -
Quartering Act
The Quartering Act forced colonists to house British soldiers stationed in the colonies. The colonists said it was a violation of their rights and they were outraged. The response to the act was some refused and lots of violence towards the soldiers. -
Townshend Act
Tax on imports like glass, paper, and tea. The officers could now use the Writs of Assistance which means that the officers could search colonial ships without reason to check for smuggled goods. Merchants signed the Non-Importation Agreement saying that they would not import taxed goods without having to travel to Britain first. -
Boston Massacre
In the Boston Massacre there were 5 colonists that were killed and 7 were wounded. This was a tragic event that will never be forgot. This event caused a lot of hatred between the colonists and Britain. -
Tea Act
This act allowed colonifsts to import British tea directly from India. Tea was still taxed but it was much cheaper. Colonistrs saw this as a trick without a respresentative in parliament. The colonists still didnt want to have the prices lowered, they didnt want the tea taxed at all so they didnt agree with the British. -
Boston Tea Party
On the day of the Boston Tea Party colonists disgusied as mohawk indians and snuck onto the cargo ship and tossed all of the barrels of tea overboard into the Boston Harbor. -
Intolerable Acts
This was a punishment to the state of Massachusetts for Boston Tea Party. One punishment was they took away town meetings so they plan something. They closed the Boston Harbor. This went on until the tea was paid for. Also there was a new quartering act. -
First Continental Congress
This was a meeting of representatives from 12 of 13 of the colonies that took place in Philidelphia, Pennsylvania in September of 1774. These representatives met because they wanted to discuss about the intolerable acts. The representatives decided to repeal the intolerable acts. -
Lexington and Concord
During this event nobody knew who tootk the first shot. There has been reports but none of them are actually reliable. The most famous ones are from London which says that the colonists fired first but there also is one from Massachusetts that says that the British fired first so we will never really know who fired the first shot. -
Paul Reveres Ride
Paul Revere sees 2 lanterns lit in the Old Noth Church indicating that the British were coming by sea. Paul Revere sets free on his ride and then British soldiers meet up with him on his ride and capture him and Billy Dawes.
