Reading History

  • Green Eggs and Ham

    Green Eggs and Ham
This was the first book I remember reading. This had a major influence on me as a reader because I had so much fun reading it.
  • Hatchet

    Hatchet
This was the first book I can recall that kept me on the edge of my seat. It also was the first book I was able to put myself in the protagonists' shoes. I felt like it was me stranded on the island with him. This was my favorite book in elementary school.
  • Lord of the Flies

    Lord of the Flies
This book was the first book I can remember during my middle school years. I loved this book. At this point in my life I was still an avid reader.
  • Animal Farm

    Animal Farm
I can remember reading this in the 8th grade and I had a hard time reading. This discouraged me a bit as a reader because this book came highly recommended. While I was reading it I felt like if I can't enjoy a book that is labeled a classic, then reading probably isn't for me.
  • 1984

    1984
This book was given to me my Sophomore year of high school and it rekindled my lost love of reading. To this day, this book is still one of my all time favorites.
  • Silence of the Lambs

    Silence of the Lambs
This is one of the greatest reading experiences I have ever had. I read this my Senior year of high school and at the time it was the greatest reading experience I had ever had. I couldn't believe I was allowed to read this book in class! I was fortunate enough to read the book before I saw the movie so this showed me how fun it is to read a book and then watch the movie. If you haven't read this book I highly recommend it.
  • Pillars of the Earth

    Pillars of the Earth
This is the first book I read after I graduated high school. I found this book randomly in a thrift store and decided to read it. This book is long and extremely dry at certain parts. I enjoyed the book but I mostly enjoyed the sense of accomplishment I felt after I completed it. This book will always be special to me for that reason.
  • Heart Shaped box

    Heart Shaped box
This book turned me on to the horror genre. I had never read a book that made me legitimately scared until I read this book.
  • Horns

    Horns
Written by the same author as Heart Shaped Box, Horns is a fun read. I read this immediately after Heart Shaped Box and wasn't disappointed.
  • Can't Hurt Me

    Can't Hurt Me
This is the last book I read. I read this book a couple months ago and it made me look at the world differently. This book documents the life of David Goggins but is also somewhat of a self-help book. With a focus on mental toughness, I recommend this book to anyone is unfamiliar with this man.
