    Of Plymouth Plantation -William Bradford
In Of Plymouth Plantation, William Bradford describes his first jorney to the new continent of North America and their first winter together.Bradford also explains how the Native Americans aided them in survival.
Quote: "Being thus arrived in a good harbor, and brought safe to land, they fell upon their knees and blessed the God of Heaven..."(Bradford 63). This memoir showed how dangerous traveling was in 1600s. The impact of this story was that it tells us how America began.

  • Declaration of Independence- Thomas Jefferson

    Declaration of Independence- Thomas Jefferson
The Declaration of Independence is a document that explains how the United States is cutting ties with Britain because of outrageous acts that the king has done.
Quote:"...that all men are created equal..." (Jefferson 114). This is my favorite quote because in America everyone has an equal chance at everything. This document had a great impact on America because it declared us as an independent nation.
  • Gettysburg Address -Abraham Lincoln

    Gettysburg Address -Abraham Lincoln
In the "Gettysburg Address", president Lincoln honors Union soldiers who perished at the Batlle of Gettysburg.

Quote:"The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here." (Lincoln 388). This quote from Lincoln's speech meant the most to me because he is putting the honoring of the men ahead of himself. The significance of this speech on American Literature is that it is known as one of the most powerful speeches in American history.
  • From Hiroshima -John Hersey

    From Hiroshima -John Hersey
In this story John Hersey explains how life was being lived right before the aotmic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. He takes the standpoints of six different ordinary working people who ended up surviving the blast.
Quote:"A Hundred thousand people were killed by the atomic bomb..." (Hersey 1001). This line of the story shows the devestating amount of harm caused. From Hiroshima was the first ever non-fiction novel written.
  • Proposal for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial -Maya Lin

Proposal for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial -Maya Lin
In the proposal, Maya Lin explains the design of the Vietnam Veteran Memorial. She explains in detail on the shape and environment in which the monument will be placed.
Quote:"These names, seemingly infinite in number, convey the sense of overwheming numbers..." (Lin 1192). This line in the proposal is a great representation of how many men and women passed in the Vietnam War. This memorial proposal had an impact on America because it finally gave us a chance to remember the fallen in Vietnam.
