Cheyenne Indians
Colorado volunteers killed over 200 Cheyenne Indians along Sand Creek. They were waiting to work out the terms of their surrender to military authority. -
Gold Prospectors& Battle of Little Bighorn 1867-1877
They overran the Sioux reservation in the black hills. Lt. Colonel Custer and his men were sent to find the Sioux indians that went for food in Montana. Custer and 210 of his soldiers died at the Battle of LIttle Bighorn. In 1877 congress passed an act forcing the Sioux to return to their reaservation. -

Tried to force Plains people to give up their authority as free nations and move to reservations controlled by Federal Government. -

Final attempt for Native Americans to protect the Buffalo for which they depended on for clothing, food & shelter. -

Geronimo & his band of apaches surrendered to the government after more than two decades of conflict. -
Dawes Act
Effort to break up Native American reservations, congress passed Dawes Act. It gave individual Native Americans 160 acres of land to farm. -
Wounded Knee Creek
Native American conflict ended at Wounded Knee Creek when soldiers and natives clashed, killing 25 soldiers and moore than 200 men, women & children. -
Curtis Act
Congress passed Curtis Act, mandating the allotment of lands in Indian territory & ending tribal authority.
