Sam comes home
Tim, Mr.Meeker, and Mrs.meeker are all sitting around, eating their dinner when they hear something. They look up, and standing before them is their son or Tim's brother, Sam Meeker dressed in a stunning outfit. He apparently has returned home from Yale. -
Sam steals the Brown Bess
Sam needs a weapon to join the army. Unfortunatly, he can't afford a new one, so he steals father's Brown Bess out of desperation. -
Sam is thrown out by Father
After stealing the Brown Bess, Father finds out, and in a enraged fury, throws Sam out. Sam angrily goes up to Tom Warrups's cabin,where he spends the night. Later Tim promises not to tell father Sam is here. -

Sam comes back
After nearly two weeks pass, Betsy signals that Sam is back and is at Tom Warrup's cabin. Tim cannot wait to see him again, and barly containing his excitement, he plots to see Sam again. -
The Cointeinental troops
Tim was chopping wood, still thinking of how to get to Sam, when he hears a scream coming from the tavern. Racing down, he sees Cointeinental soldiers trying to get father to tell them where he is hiding his Brown Bess. Tim runs up to Tom Warrups as fast as he can and convinces Sam to go help father. When they arrive, Mr.Meeker is perfectly fine but before hecan say anything, Sam bolts. -
Mr.Heron's delivery
Mr.Heron, the town land surveyor walks in to the tavern with Tom Warrups who works for him, and they spoke to Mr.Meeker. Mr.Heron wanted Tim to deliver some 'buisness letters' to a friend in Fairfield, Tim insists,but Father refuses. -
The letter
Tim, two days later, finally sees Mr.Heron again and agrees to deliver the letter behing Father's back. As he walks to deliever it, Betsy (Sam's girlfriend) demands to see it claiming it might have information on Sam, and Tim refuses to let her. After a brief scuffle Betsy rips open the letter, but all it says is "If this message is recieved, we will know the messanger is reliable." -
Verplanks point
Father announces Tim is going to go with him to Verplanks point. Every year Father makes the trip to Verplanks point to trade livestock for supplies, which they use for the tavern.He has to take Tim becuase Tom Warrups is busy and Sam is gone. -
The Journey to Verplanks Point
After waiting many monthes Tim finally can go on the trip to Verplanks point. However they encounter cow-boys along the way (robbers who pretend to steal cattle and goods for the sake of the Patriot army) but the robbers are scared off by a group of British calvery who escort the Meekers from that point on. -
The British are coming!
Ned runs down the road and anounces that the British are coming to Captain Betts. Captain Starr and Ned held their ground at Captain Starr's house, but the British forces were to strong, and they burnt the house to the ground and decapitated Ned. They also took Tim's best friend Jerry Stanford. -
Patriot Soldiers Arrive
The patriot soldiers arrive, Sam along with them. Sam and Tim reunite and Sam finds out that they don't hate him afterall as he had previously suspected. Tim feels more like an equal to Sam rather then a little brother. -
Learned that Father Died
A man who was taken away on a raid on Redding that Spring was put on the same ship as Father. He had been with Father when he died and told Tim, Sam, and Mrs.Meeker his last words. As it turned out, Father died on a British prison ship, and died of cholera. -
Cattle Thievery
While investigating four missing cows, Sam finds two men cutting the first one up. After yelling 'thief' Sam charges up, only to be suddenly arrested on the charges of cattle thievery. -
Guilty as charged
Sam is found guilty and General Putnam refuses clemency. Later when Tim goes to see Sam, Sam seems remarkably calm, almost accepting his fate in a way. -
Execution of Sam Meeker
Tim's beloved brother, is shot on the charges of being a cattle thief. After three years of serving as a Patriot soldier, they shoot him for a crime he didn't do. His mother cannot be convinced to go.
