A couple years after the Nine Years War came to a stop, Louis once again engaged himself in The War of Spanish Succession. Louis had the same motivation for engaging in this war, for European dominance and territorial issues. -

The treaty was made to end war between the French and the European Alliance. The treaty also served to make sure that the Spanish and French were never allowed to combine kingdoms. -
Death of Louis XIV
The French King died just four days before his 77th birthday, he died in the Palace of Versailles. Louis XIV was the longest lasting French King in history, ruling for 72 years.
