November 29th, 1947
On November 29, 1947, the UN General Assembly voted in favor of a resolution, which adopted the plan for the partition of Palestine, recommended by the majority of the UN Special Committee on Palestine. -
al-Nakba / Establishment of Israel
By the time Israel declared is independence in May 1948, a civil war was raging in Palestine. Palestinians and Arabs had rejected a United Nations plan to partition the country between Jews and Palestinians. Arabs from Jordan, Egypt, Syria and Iraq joined Palestinians to battle against Jews, who by then had sustained a huge influx of Jewish immigration for more than 30 years--long enough to establish a de-facto state. -
Formation of the PLO

The force behind the organization's creation isn't the Palestinians themselves, but Egypt. The intent isn't to encourage Palestinian nationalism, but to control it. -
The Six Days War
The Six-Day War took place in June 1967. The Six-Day War was fought between June 5th and June 10th. The Israelis defended the war as a preventative military effort to counter what the Israelis saw as an impending attack by Arab nations that surrounded Israel. -

The Yom Kippur War was a war that occurred between Israel and a coalition of Arab nations, the war is sometimes known as the Ramadan War or October War. The Yom Kippur War lasted for 19 days, starting on the 6th October 1973 and finishing on October 25th of the same year.
