United Nations Partition Plan
On Nov. 29, 1947, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution calling for Palestine to be partitioned between Arabs and Jews, allowing for the formation of the Jewish state of Israel. -
First Arab-Israeli War Begins
The first Arab-Israeli War broke out of May 15, 1948, the day after Israeli's announcement about declaring independence. Five Arabs invaded the former Palestine territory causing an immediate problem. The Arabs then launched an air attack on Tel Aviv starting the war! -
Six Day War
The 1967 war, which lasted only six days (June 5-11), established Israel as the dominant regional military power. Israel launched a preemptive strike against Egypt, Syria, and Jordan. The war that followed Israel's surprise attack ended with the Israeli army occupying Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, Syria's Golan Heights, and Jordan's West Bank." -
Palestinian Members of Black September Murder 11 Israeli Athletes at 1972 Munich Olympics
At 4:30 a.m. in Munich, Germany, Palestinians armed with automatic rifles broke into the quarters of the Israeli team at the Olympic Village. They killed 2 members of the team and took 9 other hostage. 23 hours later, the 9 hostages had been murdered also. Along with a German policeman and 5 of the Palestinian terrorist. The Palestinians were members of the then-unknown Black September. -
"Yom Kippur War" (aka War of 1973)
In Oct. 1973, Egypt launched a sudden attack upon the Israeli forces in the east bank of Suez Canal. At the same moment, the Syrian army attacked the Israelis in the Jawlan. In the rush of fighting, the Egyptian army succeeded in crossing the canal and building a bridgehead. The Syrians took over part of the Jawlan. The attacks ended in a cease-fire. -
Camp David Accords
Camp David Accords, agreements between Israel and Egypt signed on September 17, 1978, that led to a peace treaty the following year between the 2 countries. The first treaty between Israel and any of its Arab neighbors. Officially titled the “Framework for Peace in the Middle East,” the agreements became known as the Camp David Accords because the negotiations took place at the U.S. presidential retreat at Camp David. -

Intifada
On Dec. 6, 1987, an Israeli was stabbed in Gaza. One day later, 4 refugee of Jabalya in Gaza were killed in an accident. Rumors that the 4 had been killed by Israelis as an act of revenge began to spread among the Palestinians. Over the next week, rock-throwing, blocked roads and tire burnings were reported throughout the territories. By December 12, six Palestinians had died and 30 had been injured in the violence. -
Oslo Agreements
Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and PLO Negotiator Mahmoud Abbas signed Interim Self-Government Arrangements, commonly known as the “Oslo Accord,” at the White House. The Oslo Accord is a set of agreements between the government of Israel and the PLO. The agreement is that in 5 years both with recognize each other as a state. -
Prime Minister of Israel, Yitzhak Rabin Assassinated
The prime minister, Yitzhak Rabin, who led Israel to victory in 1967 and began the march towards peace a generation later, was shot by a lone assassin on Nov. 5, 1995. He was leaving a vast rally in Tel Aviv. He was 73 at the time. He was struck by one or two bullets as he was entering is car. Police located a 27-year-old Israeli. He was Yigal Amir. He said he acted alone. -
The Vatican Recognizes State of Palestine in New Treaty
The Vatican officially recognizes the state of Palestine in a new treaty finalized Wednesday May 13, 2015. The treaty which is involved of the activities of the Catholic Church in Palestinian territory. The Vatican was welcomed by U.N General Assembly in 2012 to recognize Palestinian state.
