Jim Gallien Review
Jim Gallien called a state trooper and gave them info about Chris McCandless. He said that he spent a lot of time in South Dakota and that that was where he was from. It was false info but it did lead them to Wayne Westerberg. -

Wayne Westerberg Info
Westerberg was listening to the radio when he heard about a hiker who died in Alaska, he then thought it was Chirs. He then called the Alaska State Troopers to share what he knew about McCandless. He told them that he worked for him and he gave him his real name (Chris J. McCandless) and his social security number (228-31-6704). -

Finding his real home
The troopers then find that McCandless's is really from Virginia but his parents moved to Maryland and their names were Walt and Billie McCandless. They were then able to contact McCandless's brother Sam McCandless. -
Identification and Sharing
Sam was then invited to Fairfax County Police Department to identify Chris with a picture. Sam knew it was him and the only thing he had left to do is drive with his family to tell his parents. -
The Phone-call
Sam McCandless was nine years older than is brother Chris. He had heard about the dead hiker but it didn't cross his mind that it was his brother. When the homicide detective asked questions about Chris, Sam then knew that it was is brother.
