Step 1: Campaigning and Fundraising
You need lot's of money to get your face on the television telling people to vote fo you. SO GO GET SOME. -
Step 2: Caucuses and Primary Election
A caucus is a nomination process where citiznes gather to listen for speeches that recomend a politician for nomination. After the speech, an informal vote count is taken, and the selected canidates go on to the national convention. A Primary Election is where a selection of candiates is placed on a ballot, and citizens go to a polling place and vote for the canidate that they want to be nominated for Election. -
Step 3: The National Convention
At the naational convention, more speeches are given, and debates held. After that, members of the party designated for voting cast their vote as to who the party should elected as their canidate for the election. The winner of the election then chooses his running mate who will get Vice President. -
Step 2.5: Primaries continued.
Open: Anyone can vote, regardless of party membership.
Semi-Closed: Only members of the political party and unaffiliated voters can vote.
Closed: Only party members can vote.
Blanket/Run-off: The top two canidates advance to a second vote, regardless of what their party is. -
Step 4: Election Day
Is the day that the people vote for your election in the poular vote. -
Step 5: Electoral College
Poular vote totals are taken to State electors, who then cast their vote, typiclay for the winner of the popular vote. However, Electors are not required to cast their vote for who won the popular election, or even vote for their own party.
