Purpose: Movie shows Genghis Khan rise to power. Fact Checked: Mongol warfare is misrepresented in the film. At the end of the movie they ride out with spears on each side and fight head up. Mongols really fought with short bows and would retreat often to dwindle enemy forces. My Rate: 2.5 stars -

Purpose: Movie shows the struggles of Columbus during his voyage. Fact checked: Christopher Columbus was actually a lousy navigator and missed the 28th parallel by 3 whole leagues. My Rate: 3 stars -
Oliver twist
Purpose: Movie shows life during industrial age. Fact checked:Workhouse conditions were terrible and families were almost always torn apart. So most of that is true in the movie. However the workhouse operators were far worse than their movie depictions. And were a lot more crowded. My Rate: 4 stars -
12 years a slave
Purpose: Movie depicts the most painful part of back history. Fact Checked: In the movie The protagonist meets Hamilton and Brown and they offer a very profitable opportunity. They say they are apart of a traveling circus and want Northrup to play violin in the show. After a show he goes drinking and gets very sick and eventually kidnapped. My Rate: 4 stars -
Lincoln
Purpose: Movie depicts Lincolns fight against slavery and the south. Fact Checked:The movie depicts the war as a means to end slavery. This has been subject to many debates between historians. I believe the movie maybe tried to make Lincoln look like a hero. My rate: 4 stars -
The Butler
Purpose: A sharecropper grows to be the most trusted butler in the white house. Fact Checked:
Eugene Allen is the actual name of the butler in real life. He worked as a waiter and butler at the white house for 34 years. In that time he served 8 presidents, he passed away in 2010 at the age of 90.

Selma
Purpose: The movie depicts Martin Luther Kings struggles in Selma as he tries to get the right to vote. Fact Checked:Dr. Martin Luther KIng jr. was a civil rights activist, a father, husband, and a minister. Dr.King was heavily influenced by Gandhi, although the movie doesn’t really speak on it. Dr King was arrested 30 times for his cause and was once freed by the president J.F.K. My Rate: 5 stars -
Rescue Dawn
Purpose: Man is shot down on secret mission in Vietnam he survives torture and the jungle. Fact Checked: America had many secret missions in Vietnam and America may have been there long before the war actually started. My rate: 4 stars -
Mandela
Purpose: Movie shows a young Nelson Mandela as he fights oppression and later imprisonment. Fact checked: The film didn't really cover the women role in the apartheid. My Rate 4 stars -
