Fortnite was in paid early release from July 25th 2017 until September 26th 2017 when the Battle Royale version became free for everyone. -
The First Season
The first season of Fortnite began on October 25th 2017 with the release of patch 1.8.2 -
The First Battle Pass
The release of the first battle pass came with the release of its coinciding season, the second season on December 14 2017 with the 1.11 patch. The season two battle pass was available for 950 v-bucks or a price of $10. The battle pass included skins, dances and more than 950 v-bucks, which would make it basically free in the long run. -
Season 7
This season has had a lot of controversy because the season started off with with planes and zip lines being added into the game which no one liked. Also 6 more og skins were brought back. This is also the current season making the story line paused for now -
Season 3
Season 3 brought the first 100 tier battle pass to the game giving players over 100 unique rewards. This season also had the first live live event in the game, during this event meteors were falling from the sky randomly for a few days near the end of the season. This event started a cascade of events which will be talked about later in the timeline. -
Season 4
Season 4 was the first season that that came with any serious map changes, with the POI known as Dusty Depot had been struck by a meteor turning the location into Dusty Divot, there were also smaller meteor holes scattered around the map. There was also a new location in the top right of the map named Risky Reels. There were also gravity crystals on the map called hop rocks, which players could use to get lower gravity for a short amount of time. -
The Visitor
Season 4 also had the first weekly challenge skin called The Visitor. This skin was unlocked by completing many weekly challenges. This skin also has a lot to do with the story line which will be explained more later. -
Season 5
Season 5 brought one of the most used transportation items in the game a rift. A rift is basically just a teleporter that brings you up into the sky and then you can skydive to a part on the map, making what used to take a few minutes to get to it will now take only a few seconds. This season also had more to do with the story being told. -
Season 6
Season 6 is the season that the gave started re-releasing og or original and rare skins that were last seen in season 1 or season 2. The skin that they brought back was the well-known Skull Trooper which was in the top 5 rarest skins in the game. This made many people who play the game mad that their skin isn't rare anymore. But it also made many people happy that they were able to get the skin. Overall this was a good decision for the company because it made them lot's of money.
