Emergency Banking Relief Act
The Emergency Banking Relief Act was started when FDR ordered a “bank holiday” because many of the banks were failing. This act was the best attempt to stabilize the banking system and was quickly enacted by Congress to reopen banks and help them finally be financially secure. This act was established on March 9th, 33 in FDR’s First new deal and was a relief effort. -
Civilian Conservation Corps Act
The Civilian Corps Act was also know as the CCC. This act was created mainly to maintain publics land. To do this over 3 million unemployed people were hired which gave so many people jobs, three meals a day, and also paid the workers paid $30 a month. This act was established on March 31st, 1933 and the program ended in 1942. The CCC was a relief program and was apart of FDR’s New Deal. -
Tennessee Valley Authority Act
The Tennessee Valley Association Act was created on Many 12th, 1933. This act was created to keep up with the operation of dams to control flooding, improve navigation, and extend the transition of electric power. This was apart of the FDR’s First New Deal and helped provide recovery to the Tennessee Valley. -
Federal Emergency Relief Act
The Federal Emergency Relief Act was created on May 12th pf 1933. Its main purpose was to provide for and give the people more opportunities and benefits. This is seen by new jobs openings, $500 million given to the people, and households were given about $30/month. This Act was apart of FDR’s First New Deal and was a relief effort. -
Home Owners Loan Act
The Home Owners loan corporation was created in June 13th 1933. It was established to help refinance mortgages on residents to prevent for future foreclosures and also to expand the opportunities to buy more homes. The homeowners loan corporation bought mortgages of residents who were behind on their payments and and then changed them to lower interest rates. This act was made in FDR’s first new deal and was a relief effort. -
National Industrial Recovery Act
The National Recovery Act was created on June 16th, 1933. It purpose was to address the industrial emergency by creating codes (NRA), set fair trade practices, minimum wages, and protect the power of workers. This act was apart of FDR’s First New Deal and was a recovery effort. -
Works Progress Administration
The Works Progress Administration was established on May 6th of 1935. It was a part of FDR’s Second New Deal and was a relief effort. This act was created to give 13 million unemployed people job opportunities. These jobs initialed helping out with public projects such as the construction of buildings, bridges and roads. The Works Progress Administration lasted for about eight years. -
The National Youth Administration
The National Youth Administration was created on June 26, 1935 as a part of the Works Progress Administration. The NYA was created to help provide employment to students and also aided jobless youths. This program was created as a part of FDR’s Second New Deal as a relief effort that intended to help youths. The general age that the NYA typically provided service for was 16-25. The head of the NYA was Aubrey Williams and this program was abolished in 1943. -
National Labor Relations
The National Labor Relations act was established on July 5th of 1935. This act was apart of FRD’s Second New Deal and was a reform effort. This act was also known as the Wagner Act in honor of the New York Senator, Robert Wagner. This act was created to protect the rights of its workers by prohibiting its employers from interfering with those who choose to bargain. -
Social Security Act
The Works Progress Administration was established on May 6th of 1935. It was a part of FDR’s Second New Deal and was a relief effort. Revenue Act
The Revenue Act was created on August 30th of 1935 and was also know as the “wealth tax act” and “soak the rich tax”. This act was apart of FRD’s Second New Deal and was a reform effort. This act was created because of many rich Americans were not paying taxes. The result of this was that the taxes were raised on annual income more than $50,000. The main purpose of this act was to raise the federal income tax on higher income levels in the United States. -
Committee for Industrial Organization
The Committee for Industrial Organization was made by J.Lewis on November 9,1935 and later renamed Congress of Industrial Organizations. This was apart of FRD’s Second New Deal and was a reform effort. The reason of this organization coming together was to encourage workers to organize along industrial union lines. The CIO consisted of a combination of workers from an industry that were both skilled and non-skilled because Lewis thought this would give workers more bargaining power.
