The production of the first music boxes
The date for the creation of the first music box was probably about 1770 in Switzerland. (it is unknown until today) but the first musical boxes are produced in Sainte-Croix, Switzerland in 1811. -
The phonograph

The compact cassette technology was originally designed for different purposes, but it supplanted the stereo 8-track cartridge as tape for recording in most non-professional applications due to it had more storage and better design. -

The CD was invented and it became the most sophisticated way to store and play music. Billion of CDs were sold worldwide. -

This portable sound system became popular right away not just for being able to play music but also images, and videos. -
Movile smartphones
With the invention of mobile phones, the music players were discontinued and everybody uses portable, smart, and electronic phones for listening to whichever music they want at any moment.
