The Americans dumped a bunch of tea in the ocean in defiance of the British and their taxes. They dumped 342 chests of tea of tea imported by the British East India Company. -
Intolerable Acts
Great Brittan passed punitive laws against the colonists after the Boston tea party. the laws punished Massachusetts for defiance. -
The Battle of Lexington and Concord
The battle of Lexington and Concord marked the start of the American war of independence. During the war the British army captured leaders Samuel Adams and John Hancock in Lexington and destroyed the Americans store of weapons and ammunition in Concord. -
The Olive Branch Petition
The Olive Branch Petition's purpose was to persuade king George III of England to answer the concerns of American colonists and resolve their differences. It was a last attempt to prevent a formal war from beginning. -
The Declaration of Independence
The Declaration if Independence declared the separation of 13 north American British colonies from Great Britain. The purpose of the declaration was to rally the troops, win foreign allies, and to announce the creation of a new country. -

Battle of Yorktown
The British surrendered after weeks of being bombarded by the Americans. This marked the making of a new nation. -
Treaty of Paris Signed
It was signed between the American colonies and Great Britain. It ended the revolution and represented America as their own nation. -
the Great Compromise
The Great Compromise was made out of a dispute in 1787. The larger states wanted more congressional representation. But the smaller states wanted more representation. so they compromised with going by population. -
The Bill of Rights
The Bill of Rights was created to protect the basic rights of U.S. citizens. The Bill guaranteed the freedom of speech, press, assembly, and exercise of religion.
