Dred Scott sued for his freedom because his owner took him to free territory. The Supreme Court said he was still a slave, slaves were property, and the 5th amendment protected the right to own property. Any law banning slavery was therefore unconstitutional -
John Brown's Raid
John Brown and 18 men attacked the base. They were going to arm the slaves for a rebellion.
