Doric columns
Doric columns were created in ancient Greece at aproximentyly (750-480bc) They were one of the first breakthroughs in architecture . It was used to make the most beautiful building of its time the parthenon.However the tall structure with a flat top had its flaws. There was very little room inside its buildings and they were always very dark there had to be a better way, -
Rome
27 BC – 476 AD
Roman architects were unsatified with the column so they created the arc. The arc was far stronger than the column and allowed for much larger structures to be built. With the arc Romans built aqua ducts, Circus Maximus, the Colosseum and many other architectural feats. Theese buildings were the best the world had ever seen and the best there ever would be right? -
The Renaissance
from the 14th to the 17th century
The Romans set limits on how high they're arcs could be built. When the Roman empire fell the limits fell with them. During the renisance architects built buildings that we could probaly not build today. They used the power of the arch and made the much larger creating buildings like Sistine Chapel and the florence cathedral. Theese two buildings were part of the best time period italy had ever seen to bad the good things don't always last. -
Benito Mussonlini
Benito Mussolini became the prime minister of Italy on the 9th of november 1921. He was dissatisfied with the state of italy at the time and intended to return the greatness of the renaissance. This would have been great except for the way that he planned to do it was through a system called facism. He brain washed his citzens into beleving he was perfect and that they would die for him. luckly this was stoped in late april 1945 were he was executed by the allies. -
Hitler
HItler took Benito Mussolinis facism to a whole other level. HItler learned and almost copied mussolinis idea of facism but made it more sinister. Like mussolini hitler brain washed his people to think he is a god but unlike mussolini he planned to exterminate the world of all the undesirables. To do this he needed to occupy the rest of the world and to do that he needed a war stratedy and thats what he came up with. -
Blitzkrieg
When hitler decided to take over europe he did it with a stratedy called blitzkrieg. Blitzkrieg means lightning war and is based on moving people and vehicles quickly. This stratedy proved to be very affective becuase it nearly took over all of europe. The one flaw in it is that it can't be used everywhere and stalingrad is one of those places. Stalingrad also proved to be the turning point of the war and shortly after this whole thing ended.
