Causes of the Chinese Civil War

  • First Opium War

After the death of the Emperor the Dynasty was ruled by pu Yi and the Prince Chun, this only make the dynasty weak, they lost control of the military and soldiers| started the rebellion in Wuchang. This ends with the Dynasty and they imposed the first president of the republic: Sun Yixian
  • The Warlord era

    Was a period in the history of the Republic of China when control of the country was divided among former military cliques of the Beiyang Army and other regional factions, which were spread across the mainland regions of Sichuan, Shanxi, Qinghai, Ningxia, Guangdong, Guangxi, Gansu, Yunnan, and Xinjiang.
    The era began when Yuan Shikai died in 1916, and lasted until 1928 when the GMD officially unified China through the Northern Expedition, marking the beginning of the Nanjing decade.

    The GMD and the CCP wanted to unified China and defeat the warlords, they form together the front. By the Northern expedition they crushed the warlords unifying China, both parties know that was only by a certain time they could be together because they shared different ideology.

    Jiang decided that the popular support to communism in his party has to become to an end. He expelled all communist of the GMD, this attack reached to a Massacre of communists in Shanghai named the White Terror

    The CCP were forced to retreat into Jianxi in order to survive the GMD attacks, they were able to spread their ideas in this province and maintain safe, they based their ideas in marxism about the revolution and the base of the revolution: the peasants.
