Carl Gustav Hempel was born in the city of Oranienburg located in the country of Germany. Carl Gustav Hempel was not only a famous philosopher, but also studied mathematics and physics (Murzi 1). He first began study at the Realgymnasium in Berlin, but later attended the University of Gottigen to begin study on mathematics (Murzi 1). Immigration of Carl Gustav Hempel
After receiving his doctorate from the university of Berlin, Hempel was forced to immigrate to the United States in an effort to avoid the Nazi Regime. When he arrived in the United States he attended the University of Chicago and began researching philosophy (Merzi 1). -
Carl Gustav Hempel's Scientific Explanation
“Hempel and Oppenheim’s essay "Studies in the Logic of Explanation," published in volume 15 of the journal Philosophy of Science, gave an account of the deductive-nomological explanation” (Murzi 1).

Hempel's Works Continued
Hempel later went on teach at multiple universities throughout his life including Yale and Princeton University (Murzi 1). Hempel also continued his work in philosophy into the later years of his life, continuously publishing papers on philosophy until as recently as 1989.
