French and Indian War
The War was over the Ohio River Valley. The French and British both want control over North America and American Trade Routes. British thought the colonies helped to provoke the war. The British wanted the colonies to repay the war dept. This was 8 million dollars. -
Sugar Act
The Sugar Act is an indirect tax, which is added to the cost. Also it gave soldiers a right to writs of assistance. Americans boycotted British goods and seller refused to buy any British goods. -
Townshend Acts
Townshend Acts replaced the Sugar and Stamp Acts. It put taxes on paper, glass, paint, and tea. After several boycotts from the colonists the British repealed this Act in 4 years. They keep the tea tax to parliament still has power. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party is a reaction to the tax on tea. The colonies didn’t expect England to react so strongly. England isolates Boston, and takes it as a threat to British rule. England lots a lot of Money when the dump the tea into the harbor and wanted Boston to pay for it. -
Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts are the Quartering Act, Boston Port Bill, Administration of Justice Act, Massachusetts Government Act, and the Quebec Act. Colonist had to house and feed soldiers and if they refuse their house is taken. Boston harbor was closed, and gave the British Governor complete control of Mass. Also they gave the Ohio River Valley to Canada -
Lexington and Concord
The British are having a rough time in Boston, militia is forming all over Mass. King sent troops to Lexington and Concord to take weapons and kill the leaders. Troops end up in a marsh, they don’t find any weapons and the leaders are long gone. Many soldiers get killed. -
Declaration of Independence
Not everyone wanted to be independent; those that did tried to convince them to. They nominated George Washington to lend the army. They try to get help form the French and Spain. Also try to get a government and Army.
