Birth
Germany I was born in Bremen, Germany. My single mother and I crew up in this town for almost 44 years! Our farther died of a horrible disease when I was just two years old. Now my mother has been taking care of me and my younger sister all alone. We have had many hardships and at one point we didnt even have a house. My life as a child growing up was not good. -
A New Home
Ellis islandIn the year of 1850, My mom, my sister, and I, packed all we had and headed for america. We heard about the great opportunitys that America had for us! So we got on that boat and head straight for Ellis Island, New York. The journey across the ocean seemed like it took forever but once we got there, I felt like a brand new person. Staying close to my family we get examined and passed through all the tests. We met up all outside the building and head for our new life! -
The Statue of Liberty
Ellis islandI am now 45 years old. My mother died two years ago and let my sister and I with the apartment and no money. So I took a new building job. I have been told this was my most important job. I know I cant mess this up. I need the money badly for my sister and I, I am building The Statue of Liberty. This is bigger than any job I have done before. I know I dont have much longer to live so I am helping my sister while I can. -
Statue of Liberty was finally finished!
Statue of libertyAfter nine years we have finally finsihed! The Statue of Liberty is complete. All the workers had survived and now we a partying with our great acomplishment! Cheering and drinking all around! Every man was so happy put fredome in this State! We are all hoping for a bigger amount of pay to be in our income. -
A New Job
Soonly after we arrived, I was offered a job to work on building skyscrapers. I didn't really know what to do but my boss said he would teach me in know time! He gave me clothing and the right gear and sent me straight up to the top. So far my job sucks. I am terrified! I am so high up! alomst 400 Feet up! I am shaking! If i make any wrong moves, I will fall and die. But hopefully this building looks nice when I'm done. I pray every night I wont fall. -
Tuberculosis
tubercolusis On this very sad day, the only person left that I loved deeply died. My sister ,Ruckens Lumpard died of Tuberculosis. I had no idea she had this disease until she died and the doctors told me. I have nothing to come home to everyday now. No wife, no kids, no parents, no living soul. My life was over. So I went back to work to occupy my alone time. -
Death
Fell when working on skyscraper.
