The french and Indian War was one of a series of wars between the british and french starting as early as the 1600's. The French and Indian War took place from 1754 to 1763. -

While england found governing its colonies in america difficult, it also found it expensive.Britian had recently fought the French and Indian War, which gave it control Canada and much of the east of the Mississippi. The war was very expensive for england, and it now needed more money to maintain soldiers in all these areas. In 1764, the british goverment decided to tax the colonists to pay a share of the coasts. -

First continental congress met in Philadelphia. -
battle of concord
700 British soldiers began to march from boston. They were on their way to concord, a town about 20 miles northwest of Boston. over the past year patriot militias had been storing weapons in Concord. Now the British soldiers had orders to "seize and destroy" these military supplies.
