    Magna Carta was written

    This was the first constitutional ducument written and it influenced the makings of the Consitution. It was signed by King John and it said that the governments power should be limited.
  • Aug 2, 1492

    Christopher Columbus

    Christopher Columbus 1492 sailed across the ocean seeking a new route to India. Looking for a faster, more efficient route to spices he discovered America. This marked the beginnings of exploration.
  • Jun 17, 1527

    Cabeza de Vaca

    Cabeza de Vaca He was a traveler of Spanish origin and traveled to the United States (1527) in search of unknown treasure. This excited more people to explore and eventually led to settlement in the United States.
  • Jamestown, Virginia was established

    Jamestown was the first permanent English settlement in the United States. It helped settle people in a colony to live and grow.
  • Beginnings of the American Revolution

    (French and Indian War started the American Revolution) This war was fought over who’s land was whose and started the American Revolution. During this war, the French joined the American’s side to become allies fighting against the British.
  • Declaration of Independence was signed

    (Declaration of Independence was signed) The Declaration of Independence states why the United States agreed upon itself as an independent nation and not being under British rule anymore. It starts out with a preamble and then starts stating the grievances of what they didn’t like about Great Britain.

    This was the first constitutional agreement in the United States. It gave more power to the states rather than the national government. This backfired because the national government did not have enough money from taxes and such to support the country as a whole.
  • Treaty of Paris ends the American Revolution

    (Treaty of Paris ends the American Revolution) The Treaty of Paris ended the American Revolution. It was Great Britain versus the US and its allies. In this treaty, Great Britain recognized The United States as an independent nation and agreed to retrieve troops positioned in America.

    (US Constitution was written) The United States Constitution was written in order to define the laws of the nation and to not have any confusion over what rights are given and what is not. It is the highest law of the land and provides the framework for other laws and documents.
  • Marbury vs. Madison Court Case

    February 24, 1803 (Marbury vs. Madison Court Case) This gave judicial review and established the future congress.
  • Lousiana Purchase

    This was an agreement that doubled the size of the United States. We bought the Lousiana territory from France for $15 million dollars.
  • War of 1812 starts

    During the American Revolution, France came and became an ally of the United States. Then after the war ended, George Washing in his Farewell Address declared for the United States not to have any allies due to being pulled in a war that’s not ours to fight. This caused the “friendship” between the United States and France to break and when France was going through their revolution, the United States didn’t help them and the War of 1812 starts as a result.
  • War of 1812 ends

    The Treaty of Ghent officially ended this war. Great Britain agreed to give the Northwest Territory to the US and both countries would try to stop slave trade. This put the US kinda on good relations with Great Britain.
  • Mexican-American War Starts

    The belief of Manifest Destiny started this war. The citizens in the US at that time believed that the US was to go from “sea to shining sea” At that time; the west had Native Americans living and occupying the space so we decided to overtake part of Mexico.
  • Treaty of Guadalupe Hildalgo was signed signaling the end of the Mexican-American War

    The Treaty of Guadalupe Hildalgo signaled the end of the Mexican-American War. In the end, this treaty gave the US the whole state of what is now Texas and more. This increased the size of the US greatly.
  • Civil War Begins

    The south owned slaves and the north was a more industrialized area. The slaves in the South would escape from their owners and run to the north to become free. The separation of the north and south brought much hassle and the civil war began.
  • End of Civil War

    The civil war was a war fought for the agreement of whether or not slavery should be allowed. This was a war fought between the North and the South.

  • Twin Towers Terrorist Attack

    On September 11, 2011 Osama Bin Laden arrrived on a plane to the United States having a plan to destroy the twin towers. He arrived destroying the twin towers and the pentagon building. This was a setback for the United States economy.
