John F. Kennedy is elected 35th president of the United States, succeeding former president Dwight Eisenhower. Kennedy was the youngest man ever to be elected president in the US at only 43 years old. -

Nixon Watergate Scandal
After a break-in at the Democratic National Committee building at Watergate Headquarters in 1972, President Richard Nixon was believed to be involved in a scandal involving the bugging of this building, and was believed to be forced to resign two years later.
