Missouri Comprimise
The Missouri Comprimise was a bill that temporarily resolves the first serious political difference between slavery and antislavery in U.S. history. The Missouri Comprimise did not solve the problem perminantly. They tried to keep both sides happy, yo avoid Civil War, but peace did not last for long. -
Compromise of 1850
The Comprimise of 1850 helped California enter the US as a free state. The slave trade was abolished in DC. Texas gave up much of their land they had claimed and received 10 million. There were more and more comprimises to make sure both sides were happy and so one would not get mad at the other. -
Kansas-Nebraska Act
In 1854, a bill was introduced, called the Kansas-Nebraska Act, that divided the land west of Missouri into two territories, Kansas and Nebraska came in one free and one slave. The line seperated free and slave states. This act made sure the south did not get angry when the Morth had a louder voice. -
Dred Scott Case
The dred Scott case was a landmark decisions by the supreme court. they said African Americans, slave or free, were not citizens. Which meant they could not sue in a public court. This angered many Americans and got them one step closer. -
Election of 1860
The election of 1860 was the 19th presidential election. The election was on by Republican, Abraham Lincoln. The south was outraged by this because they neww with Lincoln slavery was abolished. This brought them one step closer to Civil War. -
Attack on Fort Sumter
The attack on Fort Sumter was the attack and surrender of Fort Sumter, in South Carolina. This started the Civil War.
