Treaty of Versailles
Signed on 28 June 1919, in Versailles, France. The treaty harshly dealt with Germany. This helped start WWII by making the Germans angry. -
Japan Invades China
A conflict fought primarily between Japan and China. China had economic help from Germany, USSR, and America. This war made up over 50% of the casualties of the Pacific War. -
Munich Peace Conference
Major powers in Germany met, without Czechoslovakia, in Munich. It was the last of the acts of appeasement towards Germany. It failed to appease Germany. -
Kristallnacht
The night when Jewish homes, shops, towns, and villages were destroyed by Nazis. The attack was triggered by the assassination of Ernst vom Rath by a Jew. This night is also known as the night of Broken Glass. -
Germany Invades Poland
An invasion of Poland that sparked the beginning of WWII. The invasion started one week after the signing of the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact. The invasion ended on 6 October the same year. Poland was divided and annexed by Germany and the Soviet Union. -
Battle of Britain
An air battle between the Royal Air Force and the Luftwaffe. The British Air Force Won. This is considered it's first real defeat. -
Pearl Harbor
A suprise attack from the Japanise on the Americans at pearl harbor. The attack was intended to stop the US from interfearing with the Japanise actions in southeast asia. This helped bring the US into WWII. -
Stalingrad
A city named after Stalin. The battle of Stalingrad happened here. In this battle Germany and their allies attacked the USSR. -
D-Day
An invasion of Normandy. Canada, French, British, and U.S. forces landed on 5 different beaches. They mislead the Germans with a ghost army. Many men were killed because some of the boats sank, specifically the ones with the tanks which were to provide the most protection. -
Korematsu v US
Korematsu said it was unconstitutional for the military to force internment on Japanese Americans just because they were Japanese. The supreme court sided with the US a decision they will always regret. -
Potsdam Peace Conference
The US, UK, and Soviet Union met at Potsdam in Germany. Truman mentioned a "Powerful New Weapon" to Stalin. Towards the end of the conference Truman decided to bomb Japan. -
Hiroshima
Hiroshima was a city of some significance to Japan because of its industry and military. A number of military camps were located near the city as well. At the time of the attack, the population was approximately 340,000–350,000. 70,000–80,000 people, were killed immediately, and another 70,000 injured. Over 90% of the doctors and 93% of the nurses in Hiroshima were killed or injured.
