Battle of Verdun
The Battle of Verdun, fought from 21 February to 18 December 1916, was the largest and longest battle of the First World War on the Western Front between the German and French armies. The casualties from Verdun and the impact the battle had on the French Army was a primary reason for the British starting the Battle of the Somme in July 1916 in an effort to take German pressure off of the French at Verdun. -
Battle of the Somme
Battle between Germany and the allied Britain and France from July 1 - November 18 1916. Over the course of the next four-and-a-half months and no fewer than 90 attacks, the Allies were able to advance a total of only six miles in the Somme region, at the cost of 146,000 soldiers killed and over 200,000 more injured. -

Schenk vs US
A Supreme Court case that involved the espionage act stating that anyone who would attempt to obstruct the draft could be convicted of a criminal defense. -
