German Invasion of Poland
Germany begins World War II by invading the weak country Poland, armed with over 2,000 tanks and 1,000 planes. Germany has had its eyes on Poland ever since World War II when they lost the land. This event is considered the spark of the war. -
England and France Declare War
After Germany invades Poland, both France, and Great Britain declare war on Germany. This was not a big suprise to Hitler, as he knew that it was a likely outcome of the invasion, as both countries had already formed a pact with Poland as a result of tensions growing. -
Russian Invasion of Poland
After Germany recovers their lost land in Poland, Hitler gives the other half to Stalin. This was a source of National Pride for the Russians, as east Poland was originally Russian land. The tactical move kept Germany on Russia's good side, and allowed Hitler to avoid a Two-Front War. This act is a part of Germany's Non-Aggression Pact with Russia, which began a few months before the war. -
Germany Conquers France
Both the French, and German lines were strong, but Germany's superior strength and numbers broke through the French line. Once the French line fell apart, so did their chances of holding off the Germans. Hitler takes an iconic picture of himself in front of the Eiffel tower to symbolize his victory. He also visits the tomb of Napoleon, to greet the French emperor who couldn't defeat Russia. Hitler also institues a new government in France, the Vichy Regime. -
German Bombing of Great Britain Ends
After defeating France, Germany set their eyes on Great Britain. Everyone, including Hitler, knew that the British Navy was extremely powerful. Germany proceeded to take to the skys and bomb Britain. This was Hitler's plan to demorale the British and for them to pressure Churchill into negotiating, but Britain kept calm and carried on, and the bombings eventually ended. -
Germany Breaks Pact and Invades Russia
Having conquererd France, and slamming Great Britain with bombs, it was now time for Germany to break the non-aggression pact with Russia and begin the invasion of Russia. During this period, Russia was taking the German offensive head on, and criticized the U.S.A for not mobolizing quickly. Russia and the USA weren't exactly close, because neither country liked the way the other ran their government. -
Japanese Bombing of Pearl Harbor
At this point, Japan was practicing Imperialism. Under emperor Hirohito, Japan was gaining land, resources, and power. Japan bombs Pearl Harbor to send a message that they don't want western influence in Japan. More than 2,000 soldiers were killed, and another 3,000 wounded. -
U.S.A and Great Britain declare war on Japan
In response to the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor, the U.S.A and its allies, Great Britain, declare war on Japan. France would have likely been a part of this too, if they hadn't been conquered by Germany. -

D-Day
On D-Day (Decision day) Allied forces consisting of over 5,000 ships, and 13.000 aircrafts arive on the beaches of Normandy, norhern France. The Liberation of France has begun. -
Adolph Hitler commits suicide
Knowing that the war would be lost and that he'd be held prisoner, Hitler considered suicide to be his best option to escape further involvement in the world. -
Germany surrenders
Shortly after Hitler commits suicide, the Nazi Party is without a leader, and it is impossible to fight. The Germans surrender and World War II ends in Europe -
VE Day: Victory in Europe
After Germany surrenders, World War II in Europe is over and the allies are victorious against the triple-axis. -
Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima
To help cripple the Japanese and end the war in the pacific, the U.S.A develops the first ever atomic bombs and drops one on Hiroshima, Japan. The bomb kills 135,000 people, which was about 30% of the population. -
Atomic Bomb on Nagasaki
To make the Japanese believe that multiple atomic bombs were coming there way, the U.S.A drops another one on Nagasaki. This one killed 40,000 people, because it was about 2 miles away from the target. The atomic bombs are what caused Japan to surrender and end the war for good. -
VJ Day: Japan Surrenders
After the two atomic bombs are dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan doesn't want any more destruction and surrenders. This marks the final end of the Second World War.
