    Japan Invades China
    China was a divided country with communists and nationalists clashing heads. Japan realized this and slowly began conquering Chinas, which was pretty easy. The slow taking over of China continued until aid was sent to the Chinese from its western friends and the conquering of China stopped.
  • The Holocaust

    The Holocaust
    Hitler was very anti Semitic and during his reign he killed six million Jewish people. He blamed the Jews for all of the problems Germany was having. In other words Hitler was a psychopath.
  • Munich Conference

    Munich Conference
    Hitler was threatening to invade Czechoslovakia because he wanted Sudetenland which was in Czechoslovakia and contained three million Germans. A meeting took place in Munich Germany and Britians prime minister decided to give in to Hitlers "final demand" and annex Sudetenland to Germany. Five months later Hitler conquered Poland.

    Blitzkrieg was a new military tactic used by the Germans during World War 2. The tactic was meant to cause disorganization behind enemy lines and was successful with Poland, France, and the Netherlands.

    Right before the start of World War 2 Hitler and Stalin mad a non agression pact. This non agression pact entailed that both countries would refrain from attacking eachother for ten years. This fell apart when German decided to invade the Soviet Union.
  • Germany Invades Poland

    Germany Invades Poland
    World War 2 had begun when Germany invaded Poland. This was one of the first uses of the blitzkrieg strategy which was bombing a country and then overwhelming it with land troops, therefore conquering it.
  • Battle of Britain

    The Germans were wanting to take control of the English Channel so the British Navy would not be able to attack the Germans. In order to do this the Germans needed to take control of the air and face Englands Air Force. At the end of this war the Germans were defeated by the supereior British Air Force. The Germans lost because they were fighting too far away from their home base and had trouble refueling and resupplying their ammunition.

    The U.S decided to help the countries in Europe who were fighting against the Axis powers. Roosevelt signs the Lend-Lease Act which allowed the U.S to lend or lease millitary supplies to countries that were fighting against the Axis powers.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    Operation Barbarossa was the code name for the invasion of the Soviet Union. Adolf Hitler unleashed three huge armies to conquer the Soviet Union and they almost did if it weren't for the Russian counter attacks and the severe weather. In the end Hitler failed to conquer the great Soviet Union.

    The Fillipino Island, Luzon surrendered to the Japanese. Hundreds of Americans and Fillipinos were forced to march eighty five miles in omnly six days. Allowed only one bowl of rice throughout the entire journey many Americans and Filipinos died.

    Japan was planning an attack on the U.S navy in the pacific. The U.S intercepted the Japenese codes and surprised the Japanese when they came to attack and we destroyed them in the sea.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    The Germans marched into Russia hoping to conquer Stalingrad, the major city in Rusiia where all of the manufacturing and communications were. The Russians took a stand against the Germans because Stalingrad was such an Important city and even named afer their leader, Joseph Stalin. The German Army captured many parts of the city but Rusiians just recaptured them doing the night and the Germans ended up losing the battle and 91,000 men were taken as prisoners.
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    D-Day stands for th Battle of Normandy in France. Germany had conquered Northwestern France and it was heavily fortified. The U.S, Britian, and Canada set out on an extensive conquest and after one of the most bloodiest wars in history we freed France of the Germans.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge
    The Battle of the Bulge was the largest battle fought on the Western Front in Europe during World War 2. The Germans we offensive in this battle and managed to create a "bulge" in the American lines, which is where the name Battle of the Bulge derived from. The Germans were trying to seperate our lines from France and Britains lines.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    The U.S needed an Island where they could set up a naval base and Iwo Jima was just the Island. The Island was defended by 23,000 Japanese troops that were well hidden and prepared on the Island. Despite those difficulties we wiped them out in a matter of a month.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Battle of Okinawa
    The U.S needed another Island that they could use as military base to help them further their attack on the Japanese. They chose the Island of Okinawa and after a tough battle we pulled through and took control of the Japanese island.
  • V-E Day

    V-E Day
    This date marked the day where victory was won in Europe. The Germans finally surrendered and laid down their arms in all of Europe and It was something to celebrate! Finally the Nazis were defeated.
  • The Bombing of Hiroshima/Nagasaki

    The Bombing of Hiroshima/Nagasaki
    Japan would not give us their uncoditional surrender, therefore prolonging the war everyone wanted to be over. The U.S then dropped the first atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima, killing eighty thousand people. Japan still refused to surrender and we dropped another atomic bomb on the city of Nagasaki killing thirty thousand people. japan finally surrenders...
  • V-J Day

    V-J Day
    V-J Day stands for victory over Japan day. V-J Day marked the day Japan surrendered unconditionally to the Allied Powers. Japan's surrender to the Allied Powers marked the end of World War 2.
  • Warsaw Pact

    Warsaw Pact
    A group of communist states formed the Warsaw pact. This pact put the Soviet Union in command of the fellow countries armed forces. This treaty required the members to defend eachother if there was attack of outside forces.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    The Japanese lead a vicious attack on Hawaiis naval base destroying most of Americas navy. The next day Roosevelt declared war on Japan, starting World War 2.
