  • Treaty of Versailles Signed

  • Weimar Republic

    Was a weak government, lacked a strong democratic tradition, also was blamed for the country's defeat and postwar humiliation caused by the versailles treaty.

  • Fascism

    Political movement that emphasized loyalty to the state and obedience to its leader. Mussolini and Hitler both strongly supported Fascism. Fascism started in Italy, and the movement was best know on the "March to Rome."

  • Inflation

  • Mussolini becomes dictator

    He abolished democracy and outlawed all political parties leaving just the Fascists. He outlawed strikes and sought to control the economy by allying the Fascists with industrialists and large landowners. Also around the same time Hitler was a little-known political leader.

  • Hitler

    Was in WW1, his hatred for jews and anger for losing the war made him from the nazis. His public speeches and events he caused made the world go to WW2. He is the main caused of World War 2.

  • The Nazis

    During around this time the nazis are becoming know and important in history. Is a political movement that is a lot like the Fascists. Killed hundreds of jews and people who were against Hitler.

  • Hitler becomes Chancellor

    The first thing he does is start new elections, so he can create a totalitarian state. He banned all other political parties so no one will go against him or the nazis. Conservative leaders thought they could control Hitler but were mistakenly wronge, and it backfired.

  • The SS

    Is Hitler's protection squad, they persuaded the german people to not go against Hitler. Killed anyone who was not with Hitler or threaten his life, did his dirty work.

  • Lebensraum

    Germany is overcrowded, needed more living space. Hitler promised to get that space by conquering eastern Europe and Russia.

  • The Great Depression

    The stock market crashed added more to the depression and quickened the collapse of the economy and made the depression more difficult. Frightened and scared they turned to Hitler for help.

  • President Hindenburg Dies

    When the president dies, Hitler proclaims himslef supreme leader and abolished the presidency. This is when he sets his plans in motion to go against everyone to be the absolute leader of the whole world. No one would dare go against him because if they did the pentalty was always death.
