Lincoln is Elected President
In the 1860 election, Abe Lincoln, a known abolitionist, is elected as president. He was voted for by prodominently the North, with Stephen Douglas as his main competetor. Douglas was too against slavery but did favor popular soveignerity. Lincoln was a beloved president with a straight forward mission to fully abolish slavery. -
The South Begins to Secede
South Carolina was the first state to secede from the union. They hoped that others would follow. -
Kansas is Admitted Into The Union As A Free State
Kansas was admitted into the Union prohibiting slavery. -
The Confederate States of America Form
The Confederate States of America form. They include: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennesse, Teaxas and Virginia. -
